Cover crop field day set

LEXINGTON – A cover crop field day is planned for Friday, April 22 from 4-6 p.m. at the Illinois State University Research Farm near Lexington.

Visitors will have the chance to see cover crops in action during the free event which will feature educational activities for children ages 6 and up. Research updates will be given on pennycress, cereal rye and winter wheat. Presenters will also cover successes and challenges of implementation, increasing farm profits and ecosystem services.
