Lemenager wins Master Showmanship
PONTIAC – Grace Lemenager of Fairbury, a member of the Tractor Wheels 4-H Club, won Master Showmanship at the Livingston County Fair Saturday morning.
“It’s definitely been something I wanted to try for,” Lemenager told The Central Illinois Farm Network after the event in the Show Barn at 4-H Park.
Lemenager said she feels blessed and fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Livingston County at the Illinois State Fair.
She gives credit to not only 4-H but also FFA as she is actively involved in the Prairie Central FFA chapter. Both organizations have given her skills such as public speaking, time management and responsibility.
“Yes, I’ve gained that from raising livestock but I’ve also gained that from having to practice for national contests and stuff like that.”
Lemenager brings cattle to exhibit at the fair each year but she just started showing sheep and used to show pigs. Many of Lemenager’s close friends are within 4-H and she has served as club president which she considers a fun experience.
Hannah Miller, also of the Tractor Wheels 4-H Club, was runner-up on Saturday.
Division winners included: Hannah Miller for swine, Olivia Masching for sheep and Grace Lemenager for beef.
All of the exhibitors included: Hayden Miller, Hannah Miller, Olivia Masching, Grace Lemenager, Jared Bressner and Isabella Bunting.
Each person had to answer the following question from the judges to help in the event of a tie.
“What are the greatest benefits of participating in 4-H and the livestock industry? If you could go back in time and talk to your younger self, what advice would you give?”
Livingston County Farm Bureau provided prize money, jackets and trophies while the Livingston County Ag Fair Board presented a table to the winner.
Judges included Andy Frerichs (swine) of Clifton, Craig Benoit (sheep) of Cabery and Tyler Loschen (beef) of Clifton.
