Farmers urged to take action in support of Farm Bill

Illinois Soybean Growers (ISG) is asking Illinois farmers to take action now to support the Farm Bill. The proposed Farm Bill is being marked up in the Senate Agriculture Committee on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

While no Farm Bill is perfect, this legislation includes important priorities for Illinois farmers, including the codification of the increased funding for the Market Access and Foreign Market Development Program included in the One Big Beautiful Bill, continued support for Marketing Assistance Loans during government shutdowns, and the strengthening and expansion of the Biobased Markets (BioPreferred) Program, among other important programs.

“I encourage my fellow Illinois farmers to respond to this action alert to let Sen. Dick Durbin and the Senate Agriculture Committee know how important this issue is to farmers,” said Bryan Severs, Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) Chairman. “It has been eight years since a Farm Bill was authorized, and farmers continue to face low commodity prices, high input costs and high inflation. Don’t wait, make your voice heard today.”
