Weekly crop report issued

SPRINGFIELD – There were 4.3 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending July 7, according to the weekly crop progress and weather report for Illinois issued Monday afternoon.

Statewide, the average temperature was 79.8 degrees, 4.8 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.33 inches, 0.43 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 6 percent short, 66 percent adequate, and 28 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 4 percent short, 63 percent adequate, and 33 percent surplus.

Corn emerged was at 95 percent. Corn silking was at 4 percent. Corn condition was 6 percent very poor, 16 percent poor, 41 percent fair, 32 percent good, and 5 percent excellent.

Soybeans planted was at 93 percent, compared to 100 percent last year and the 5-year average of 99 percent. Soybeans emerged was at 86 percent. Soybean blooming was at 2 percent.

Soybean condition was 6 percent very poor, 18 percent poor, 38 percent fair, 34 percent good, and 4 percent excellent.

Winter wheat harvested was 74 percent, compared to 91 percent for last year and 87 percent for the 5-year average.
