Special year for Ridgeview FFA

COLFAX – This is a special year for the large number of juniors involved in the Ridgeview FFA chapter.

A committee made up of sophomores and juniors put in plenty of hard work preparing for the 17th annual Ridgeview FFA chapter and alumni auction which was held over the weekend at the high school in Colfax.

“We’ve got some good items this year and we put in way more work than normal so we are hoping that shows,” FFA vice-president Kelly Jones said prior to Saturday’s auction.

“I’m excited to see the accomplishments we have tonight from it,” added chapter reporter Journey Steidinger.

Ridgeview advisor Ariel Bunting believes this is a good time to see the students come together and reveal the fruits of their labor. The funds raised help support students at conventions and various trips during the year.

“These kids have put in a ton of time the past week. We spent time during class and even after school putting all of this stuff together,” said Bunting.

Following a busy conference and convention season, the FFA is preparing for livestock judging.

“That will kind of lead us to the end of the school year,” Bunting acknowledged.

A silent auction was held in conjunction with the pork chop dinner followed by the live auction. Items ranged from baskets and food to agricultural products. Auctioneers were Billy Bolen and Reed Thompson. Various “star” sponsors provided a monetary donation of $100 or more while others gave donations under $100.
