Nutrient placement for 2019

SPRINGFIELD – Mother Nature is the biggest variable that comes into play when looking ahead to the 2019 growing season, but there is plenty you can do to help yields.

Those in agriculture continue to see a positive response from fungicide on both corn and soybeans and growers are realizing the value of putting nutrients in the right places. This includes improving certain spots in a field without wasting fertilizer.

“All of those things have become part of the evolution of zone farming in agriculture,” explains John Allen, retail sales manager for Brandt Consolidated. “We are getting better and it and I think as we go forward, it will even continue to improve.”

Looking back on 2018, area growers produced an abundant crop and saw timely rains but the season ended with challenges – leading to a late harvest for some and the inability to get fall fieldwork completed.

“At the end of the day, we did have really good corn and soybean yields,” Allen said.

Allen hopes farmers are thankful for the blessings of the past year and he hopes 2019 is a good year for all of those involved in the ag industry.
