Final crop report of year issued

There were 2.8 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 25, according to the final crop progress report of the year issued Monday by USDA-NASS.

Statewide, the average temperature was 38.5 degrees, 1.0 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.43 inches, 0.27 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 2 percent short, 72 percent adequate, and 26 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 8 percent short, 78 percent adequate, and 14 percent surplus.

Sorghum harvested was at 94 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 97 percent. Winter wheat emerged was at 86 percent, compared to 95 percent last year. Winter wheat condition was 6 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 5 percent excellent.

This is the final weekly Crop Progress and Condition report for 2018. Monthly reports will be released January through March, with weekly reports resuming in April 2019. Thank you to all of our reporters for their hard work this year.
