Plenty to do in the field
CROPSEY – Most farmers have all of the crops out of the field, but there is still plenty to do this fall.
A few replanted soybeans still need to be harvested from ponded areas and fertilizer and lime applications will continue once conditions allow. Also, anhydrous ammonia season has been off to a slow start due to the weather.
“It’s a little greasy on top but I think the dirt underneath is dry so I think there’s still a pretty good window to get some on,” said Bryan Cole who manages the Brandt Consolidated Cropsey location.
Cole admits growers must play the hand they are dealt when it comes to Mother Nature this time of year. Decision-making is going to be crucial in farm country this winter since we are facing low commodity prices.
