Barn Keepers tour is July 28

BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Barn Keepers group will sponsor a bus trip to the Garfield Farm Museum and Tavern near Geneva on Saturday, July 28.

Volunteers are preserving the 370-acre historic farmstead as an 1840’s living historic farm museum. This is the biggest Illinois farm on the National Register of Historic Sites and it has been honored with a state historical marker. Those making the trip will see historic buildings, rare livestock breeds, an heirloom vegetable garden and native in-season grasses.

Barn Keepers members must pay $35 and the cost is $45 for non-members. The price includes transportation, entry fees, a conducted tour and lunch. Registration deadline is July 21. Checks should be mailed to: Barn Keepers, PO Box 261, Bloomington, IL 61702—261.
