Trivia night raises money for 4-H

BLOOMINGTON – Over 100 people enjoyed chili, chocolate and a night of trivia Saturday to support McLean County 4-H programs.

The Chili and Chocolate Challenge at the Interstate Center was followed by a trivia competition and held in conjunction with a silent auction.

“Since the state has cut back on funding that came to the county, we are looking for ways to supplement that,” explained Karen Carrigan of the Timeless Clovers 4-H Club.

Carrigan wasn’t expecting such a large crowd but was pleased with the turnout at the start of the event. Trivia teams included six individuals who answered questions throughout the evening.

The event previously served as an exclusive social for the Timeless Clovers but was opened up to include donations, a silent auction and trivia all to help the McLean County Extension Service Foundation.

“We’re just going to throw it all in one big pot for the foundation,” said Theresa Chambers, past president of the Timeless Clovers.

Since Extension reaches quite a few people in McLean County, Chambers believes the trivia night is a great way to network and combine two events into one.

Timeless Clovers is the McLean County 4-H alumni group which continues to grow. The group is made up of many committed lifetime volunteers in the county. There are other alumni groups in Illinois, but the McLean County one is among the longest running.
