Pig barn open house set

The IL Livestock Development Group (ILDG) and the Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA) are coordinating an Open House on Monday, September 11 for a new 8,200 head wean to finish hog farm on behalf of the Parks Companies in cooperation with the Shepherd and Rademacher families.

The Open House will be held from 5:00 – 7:30 pm. The farm is located at 19063 N. 350th E. St., Fithian, IL. The Ribbon Cutting will be held at 5:30 pm. Attendees can tour the two 4,100 head wean to finish barns and enjoy a free pork sandwich, chips and a drink.

Directions to the farm are as follows: From Interstate 74 - take exit 200 and go north on Highway 49 for 1.25 miles to 1900 N road. Turn right on 1900 N road, go 1.5 miles, farm is at the intersection of 1900 N road and 350 E road. From Fithian – At the intersection of Hwy 150 and 350 E road go north 2.0 miles on 350 E road. Farm will be on your right.

Neighbors, community members, fellow pork producers, and anyone with an interest in learning more about modern swine production are invited to attend. Attendees can see the latest products and technologies for swine care and environmental stewardship. The event is free and open to the public.
