Over 54,000 deer harvested

Illinois deer hunters harvested 54,452 deer during the first firearm deer weekend in November, according to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
The total is down from the 57,870 deer taken during the same weekend in 2015. The state’s seven-day firearm deer season concludes Dec. 1-4.
Ford County hunters took 72 deer; Livingston – 293; McLean – 363; DeWitt – 192; Grundy – 214; Iroquois – 326; Woodford – 417.
