No frost anytime soon

CHAMPAIGN – October is here, but don’t expect frost anytime soon.

On average, northern Illinois sees the first 32 degree reading the first week of October with central Illinois experiencing frost by mid-October and the southern part of the state by late in the month.

State Climatologist Jim Angel says there is nothing in the extended weather forecast which indicates frost anytime soon.

“Temperatures over the next week will remain above normal,” Angel said in his weekly weather summary for Illinois.

Overnight lows will mostly be in the 50s for the next week according to Angel.
