Wheat yield down; acreage up

In the Illinois Crop Production report issued Friday, winter wheat harvested area in 2023 is forecast at 790,000 acres, up 41 percent from the previous year.

According to USDA, the winter wheat yield is forecast in Illinois at 78 bushels per acre, down a bushel from 2022. Production is forecast at 61.6 million bushels, up 39 percent from last year.
