Weekly crop report
SPRINGFIELD – There were 4.5 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 1, according to the weekly crop progress and weather report issued for Illinois on Monday.
Statewide, the average temperature was 41.8 degrees, 10.0 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.94 inches, 0.19 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 18 percent short, 68 percent adequate, and 11 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 5 percent very short, 26 percent short, 66 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus.
Corn harvested for grain was 89 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 83 percent. Soybean harvest was 93 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 88 percent.
Winter wheat planted was at 94 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 84 percent. Winter wheat emerged was at 82 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 63 percent. Winter wheat condition was 1 percent very poor, 7 percent poor, 21 percent fair, 64 percent good, and 7 percent excellent.
