Weekly crop progress report

There were 5.6 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending November 22, according to the weekly crop progress and weather report issued for Illinois on Monday afternoon.


Statewide, the average temperature was 44.8 degrees, 3.6 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.69 inches, 0.04 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 11 percent very short, 17 percent short, 70 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 11 percent very short, 25 percent short, 63 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus.


Winter wheat emerged was at 96 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 91 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 4 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 23 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 19 percent excellent.
