View from the Cab: Show time again
By: Kent Casson
The Illinois Pork Expo returns this year with two days of showcasing the pork industry in one place.
Expo is planned for Feb. 22-23 at the Bank of Springfield Center in Springfield featuring all of the producers and businesses involved in the industry. Agriculture remains a leading economic driver in our state and Illinois continues to rank fourth in the nation for pork production, generating over two billion pounds of pork each year.
According to the Illinois Pork Producers Association, hog production and processing also contributes over $1.8 billion toward the state’s economy and stimulates the Illinois workforce by supporting over 57,000 jobs.
Admission to Illinois Pork Expo is free to everyone and you can speed up the check-in process by registering online by Feb. 7. Name badges can be picked up at the welcome desk in the BOS lobby Feb. 21 from 2-5 p.m. and Feb. 22 from 7-9 a.m. Badges are required to enter the trade show floor. After the pre-registration period ends Feb. 7, registration can be completed on-site for anyone wanting to attend.
Prior to Illinois Pork Expo, you can enjoy the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association’s annual convention and tradeshow which takes place Jan. 18-20. Visitors can spend one, two or three days catching up with peers, forming new relationships and learning about the future of the ag input industry.
“Navigating into the Future” will be the theme of the IFCA convention in Peoria with educational programs on safety, agronomy, business issues and required training for pesticide application along with anhydrous ammonia certification. The trade show is one of the best in the country.
