Graymont Co-op acquires Missal Farmers

Graymont Co-op has announced the acquisition of Missal Farmers Grain Company.

Under the agreement, the facility at 325 N 975 E Road in Streator will continue to operate as Graymont Cooperative Association, Missal location. The closing is expected on Sept. 1 with operations continuing seamlessly into the future, according to a recent news release.

"Today is a day of celebration - not just for Graymont, but for every farmer, employee and community member who has been part of the Missal story," said Matt Jacobs, general manager of Graymont Co-op. "Missal Farmers Grain Company has been a cornerstone of this community for generations. Their commitment to the surrounding agricultural community has been unwavering and we are deeply honored to carry that legacy forward."

Patrons of Missal will have the opportunity to become common stockholders of Graymont Co-op, joining a farmer owned cooperative which has served the area since 1903.

"We look forward to serving you with the same dedication and integrity that has defined both Missal and Graymont for more than 120 years. This is not the end of the story; it is the beginning of a new chapter working together," adds Jacobs.

Graymont Cooperative Association was founded in 1903 while Missal Farmers Grain Company was established in 1904. Together, the two organizations represent more than two centuries of combined service to Illinois agriculture.
