Students attend ag showcase at ICC

Agriculture, Diesel and Horticulture Career Showcase and Industry Immersion event at the college on Friday.

EAST PEORIA – Over 400 high school students attended the Agriculture, Diesel, and Horticulture Career Showcase and Industry Immersion on Friday, September 16 at ICC's East Peoria campus.

The showcase provided students an opportunity to explore in-demand careers in agriculture, diesel, and horticulture, and speak with ICC faculty and students, over 35 local employers, and industry specialists.

The free event, sponsored by Compeer Financial, featured a student and alumni panel Q&A session, industry speakers, and lunch. Tours of the Horticulture Center, and live demonstrations by current students using the latest technology in agricultural, construction, and heavy truck equipment were also well-attended.

"This day allowed students to see firsthand what a career in these fields could mean for them. They heard from successful alumni and current students in the programs and gained a better understanding of the potential of these career paths," said ICC Agriculture and Industrial Technology Professor, Grant Grebner.

Attendees also learned about ICC's various degrees, certificates, and "Earn and Learn" opportunities in these fields. For information and the showcase agenda please see
