Port workers strike in east, south
The cost of a port worker strike on the East and Gulf Coasts could be around $5 billion a day to this country, according to JP Morgan.
Workers at various ports all the way from Maine down to Texas are striking and this could be the most disruptive one to the U.S. economy in years. Officials say the strike could stop the movement of items such as cars, toys, household goods and clothing.
The International Longshoremen’s Association had been threatening to walk out unless a new contract was agreed on.
