Options available for steering, planting

FAIRBURY – Despite some rainy weather in October, the harvest season went well for growers and now they look ahead to the various products being offered for 2022.
Nate Kelson with Jenner Precision of Fairbury feels the year was a good one for the business. He was at last week’s Greater Peoria Farm Show.
“It had its challenges but it has been a good year overall for Jenner,” Kelson told The Central Illinois Farm Network. “We’ve been able to continue working on relationships with growers and there are cool products still being invented.”
Ag Leader continues to come out with steering systems and has developed SureSpeed along with a new sprayer system that has individual nozzle control. Precision Planting continues to dabble in the liquid world.
“We love what they are doing with the planter,” notes Kelson.
New attachments have been released from 360 Yield Center and Yetter is another company Jenner Precision works closely with as strip till continues to be a popular topic among growers.
“Precision Planting has the winter conference coming up. I’m not sure what they are going to announce there but I am excited to see.”
The biggest challenge is getting the product in hand these days due to parts issues. If a farmer wants a product by spring, some of it needed to be ordered by this past September. While other parts are still available, producers should talk with their precision ag advisors to find out what is out there for the coming spring season.
“The ROI on a lot of this is very good and in some situations, vendors are trying to make up for this lack of product and are running some different specials,” added Kelson.
