Jenner Ag awards scholarship
HARRISTOWN – A college student from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) has been chosen as the 2021 Jenner Ag Furthering Ag Education Scholarship recipient and will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship for the 2021-2022 school year.
Jarvis S. Williams of Chicago attends UIUC, where he is currently pursuing a degree in Technical Systems Management. He is involved in various organizations such as the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE); Minorities in Agricultural, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS); and 100 STRONG. He also serves as Treasurer of the UIUC MANRRS Chapter.
Williams is passionate about the importance of agriculture and wanting to improve the global agricultural sector with the study and development of precision agricultural devices. After receiving his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, he plans to give back to the community and inspire younger generations of all cultures to pursue the field of agriculture and all it has to offer.
“Jenner Ag is pleased to be able to offer assistance to students who aspire toward a future in agriculture,” says Steve Jones, President of Jenner Ag. “It is important for younger generations to continue to be excited about what this industry has to offer and where it is going in the future.”
This is the eleventh consecutive year that Jenner Ag has provided scholarships for ag students. Illinois and Indiana ag students can apply for assistance furthering their education in an agriculture degree program. Applications are available online at www.jennerag.com or through any Jenner employee and are accepted until June 30 each year.
