Illinois marks Bacon Day
It all started with a phone conversation between farmer Stan Blunier of Forrest and State Sen. Tom Bennett.
Now, Illinois has a “Bacon Day” to celebrate on May 3. The two were discussing National Bacon Day but Bennett wondered about an Illinois day. Stan referred the question to his son, Kent, who did some research.
“We asked Jennifer at the state office and she said they used to do a BLT day behind the Capitol,” noted Kent Blunier.
Bacon is a great tool for pork producers to advertise what they do and nothing gets people talking more than a delicious BLT sandwich.
“We will be giving out BLT’s to all of the Representatives, Senators and aides,” explains Kent.
