Fall fieldwork rolls on
CROPSEY – This has been a great fall for farmers to get fieldwork done and harvest didn’t turn out too bad with decent yields and a price rally.
“We had some stress areas here and there but yields in general with corn were better than expected,” said Bryan Cole, manager of the Cropsey Brandt location. “With beans, we lost some of the top end with heat in August and a lack of rainfall.”
In general, most are focusing on fertilizer applications and tillage at this point. Cole says growers in his area started late last week on ammonia applications which has really ramped-up in recent days.
“We’ll have a lot of tons go out this week,” Cole noted.
Now is the time to talk over fall fertilizer plans with your retailer if you haven’t already. The seed decision-making process is also underway for the 2021 crop season.
