Compeer Home has awarded three $2,500 gifts to first responders who dedicate themselves to keeping small towns safe.
National Heroes Day was a day to give back to rural communities and agriculture.
Over 1,400 people nominated a volunteer fire, rescue or ambulance department in Compeer’s territory. The support helped shine a light on those who keep rural life strong.
Locally, Southeast Livingston County Ambulance Service was the Illinois winner. Amy Ifft nominated SELCAS for the Compeer National Heroes Day giveaway. It was one of three departments randomly selected.
“I knew right away that I wanted to nominate them,” said Ifft. “They truly are a group of dedicated, committed people. Their crew goes above and beyond.”
The Minnesota winner was the St. Clair Fire Department and in Wisconsin, the Brownsville Fire Company was the winner.
