Chamber recognizes agriculture

This week’s National Ag Day coincided with the annual Ag Awareness Breakfast hosted by the McLean County Chamber of Commerce at the new Heartland Community College ag center.

FFA service award winners included Rachel Light from Blue Ridge, Abram Steiner from EPG, Jolee Maharas of Heyworth, Kyleigh Baker of Lexington, Mary Baker of Normal Community, Charlee Vandegraft of Normal West, Reed Naughton of Olympia, Sara Kate Edwards of Ridgeview and Joseph Brown from Tri-Valley.

George E. Holder Grant winners included Katie Albritton of Fairview Elementary and Kristin Myers of Tri-Valley High School.

John Maitland Grant winners were Krista Kuipers of LeRoy Preparatory Academy, Jennifer Corbly of Pepper Ridge and Meg Baer of Olympia Middle School.

Funds raised for the Maitland Grant during Pass the Hat, between cash and online, was $2,000 with a matching contribution added for next year’s grant.
