Aerial program focuses on plant health
FLANAGAN – Keeping plants healthy and disease free this summer is the idea behind the Amplify yield enhancement technology through Integrated Seed Solutions.
The hope is to give corn a five or six week window with no disease from tassel all the way through brown silk and beyond. This is also a time to feed the plants vitamins.
“It’s sulfur, it’s boron, it’s potassium and things like that then we give it a shot of steroids with a plant growth regulator,” explained John Martin, president of Integrated Seed Solutions in Flanagan.
Integrated hosted an informational customer meeting last week featuring helicopter demonstrations and covering the Amplify program trying to figure out a way to consistently return another 20 to 30 bushels to growers this season.
Representatives from the Heli Team helicopter aerial spraying service were at the meeting to show how the application process works. They use the newest technology in helicopter application with strong beliefs in client communication, aiming to provide the best aerial application service in the country. Heli Team is based in Central Illinois and Central Florida, offering crop dusting services across the Midwest and greater eastern United States.
“In market environments where we are seeing $7.50 plus corn and $17-18 beans, every bushel is really valuable this year and we think with our Amplify program, we can find ways to bring the grower another 15, 20 or 30 bushels on corn and try to find 10 bushels on soybeans,” said Martin.
This gives a corn plant all it needs to fill out the ear and put every kernel possible into the yield. The business has 100,000 acres of capacity for this year’s aerial program. Since they anticipate selling out, customers are advised to call soon to book their acres for spraying.
Integrated also sells Stone Seed brand corn and soybeans.
“We are doing really well with that thanks to our customers,” added Martin.
Martin is excited to see what the future holds as Integrated now has a team in Wisconsin. More information can be found online at www.integratedseedsolutions.com or www.amplifyyield.com or you can contact the office in Flanagan.
