There were 6.9 days suitable for field work during the week ending November 19, according to the weekly crop progress and weather report issued for Illinois this week.


Statewide, the average temperature was 47.0 degrees, 4.7 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.02 inches, 0.69 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 11 percent very short, 38 percent short, 50 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 24 percent very short, 40 percent short, and 36 percent adequate.


Winter wheat emerged reached 90 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 83 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 3 percent poor, 15 percent fair, 64 percent good, and 18 percent excellent.
