ARTHUR – Kuhns Equipment has expanded its footprint in Central Illinois.
The Arthur-based ag equipment dealership, which has another location in Gibson City, has acquired the ag division of Central Truck & Ag in Pontiac. The new venture officially took effect at the start of the month.
“Obviously, we already had customers in the area but it definitely strengthens our service portfolio and our ability to handle customers throughout the region,” Kuhns general manager Ben Kuhns told The Central Illinois Farm Network late last week.
This means the service local farmers have come to expect from Troy Schuler and his guys at Central Truck & Ag is now found under the Kuhns name. Kuhns said this will expand the company’s road fleet and ability for on-farm and field repairs.
Kuhns is the third generation involved with the business as his grandfather started it all back in 1956. Kuhns is an AGCO-based dealership, historically carrying Massey Ferguson equipment.
“In the last several years, we’ve come on board with the Fendt line and also Versatile, MacDon and some other short lines,” Kuhns noted.
Dealerships nowadays seem to be located farther apart which Kuhns believes could be a trend.
A post on the Central Truck & Ag Facebook page announcing the merger said the move provides enhanced service capabilities, a state-of-the-art equipment offering, no change in current equipment coverage and the same team.
