Cold leads to disaster proclamation
Due to the extreme cold throughout the state, Governor Pritzker has issued a disaster proclamation for all Illinois counties.
The state’s emergency operation center is working with local governments to help with the needed resources. Officials are urging caution in this dangerous weather over the next couple of days as the cold can cause frozen pipes, water main breaks, vehicle failure and even possible death.
“This disaster proclamation ensures that the state of Illinois has the flexibility to effectively and efficiently respond to the needs of local governments during this extreme weather event,” Pritzker said.
