View from the Cab: Kid Talk

It has become a tradition around our home to record some Christmas messages with the kids prior to the big day which I air on my radio program each December.

Now I thought I would interview the kids for this column. After all, I have never been able to directly quote Kasen and Kenadee in print so here we go. I asked them for a recap of farming in 2018 and here’s what they had to say.

“I liked it,” said Kasen.

“I like the combine,” Kenadee chimed in.

Kasen especially enjoyed riding in the auger wagon tractor and combine. He enjoyed seeing the corn dump into the truck and driving the tractor at a fast speed up and down the field. Kenadee also enjoyed her time in the field and told me she liked being able to steer a tractor for the first time.

Kenadee wanted to share one particular memory from summer fair season: “That one cow that doesn’t even say moo!” I think she was referring to the Livingston County 4-H Fair.

I even had a little fun during our interview segment asking each kid what they thought of the current tariff situation with China.

“What’s that?” Kasen whispered.

“What does that mean?” Kenadee asked.

Honest answers from kids who are 8 and 4. Not sure I even know the answer to those questions – but thanks for asking.

Even though we tried to stick to an ag theme for our year-end flashback, both Kasen and Kenadee said they had a fun time taking a family vacation to Lake Michigan last summer. They didn’t say it but I think one of the major highlights of their year was the birth of little sister Kaislee in October. Rebecca and I would agree.
