PONTIAC – The new Livingston County Farm Bureau manager is settling in to his position.

An open house for Chris Bunting was held at the Livingston County Farm Bureau office in Pontiac Tuesday morning. Country Financial agents Dave Rapp and Nate Hayner hosted the free pancake and sausage breakfast in Bunting’s honor, allowing area farmers and members of the public to stop in and say hello.

Bunting grew up on a farm near Dwight and attended the University of Illinois before eventually joining the Illinois Farm Bureau training program. He spent 16 years working in southern Illinois before returning home to Livingston County this fall.

“After a little hiatus, I got to come back to Livingston County and I sure am glad to be here,” Bunting said.

Bunting hopes to maintain the Farm Bureau’s strong presence in the county by serving members the best he can. He invites anyone needing assistance with ag issues to stop by the office on Howard Street in Pontiac or call 815-842-1103. The Livingston County Farm Bureau website can be found at www.livcfb.org.

This is a busy time in the ag community as the winter meeting season is just around the corner. The Livingston County Farm Bureau is starting to line-up speakers for a winter meeting planned for Jan. 23. Doug Yoder is expected to discuss crop insurance and the farm bill.

“We are going to try and make a nice day out of it at the Elk’s in cooperation with Country Financial,” Bunting added.
