Drive to honor farmer's memory
ARTHUR – A Labor Day tractor drive near Arthur will honor the memory of farmer Cliff Kauffman who passed away last year.
“This is a tractor drive to honor my dad who passed away on September 2, 2017 in an accident on the farm,” explained event organizer Kim Weber. “One of the things my dad loved to do in the summer was to go on tractor drives with his brothers and friends.”
Proceeds will benefit the Central Illinois Down Syndrome Organization and the Down Syndrome Diagnosis Network to help provide funding and support to kids with Down syndrome. Kauffman’s grandson, Colton, has Down syndrome and was the apple of his grandpa’s eye, according to Weber.
Registration for the Cliff Kauffman Memorial Tractor Drive begins Monday at 6:30 a.m. near Yoder’s Kitchen on east Columbia in Arthur. A driver’s meeting starts at 7:45 with the cruise departing Arthur at 8.
