Rain plentiful in Central Illinois

Water surrounds a road sign and cornfield near Fairbury Sunday afternoon in Livingston County / CIFN photo.

Concerns over dryness quickly vanished Sunday across Central Illinois as anywhere from two to seven inches of rain fell across the region over the weekend.

Here are some unofficial rainfall totals for the past few days reported by Central Illinois Farm Network Facebook followers:

2.4 inches south of Anchor

4 inches southwest of Pontiac

4.5 inches west of Fairbury

3 inches south of Dwight

2 inches near Gibson City

7 inches north of Fairbury

Water could be seen flowing across country roads Sunday afternoon while roadside ditches were full and some area creeks continued to rise Sunday evening. This could potentially impact nearby rivers later in the week. The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory from Sunday afternoon through evening.
