PONTIAC – Now that the planters are parked, farm meeting and event season picks up. The Livingston County Farm Bureau has a busy schedule for June.

The group’s adopted legislator will hold a golf outing in Chicago and area farmers will be helping out.

“We like to send a group of farmers up there to help him on the golf course and talk to his constituents about the importance of agriculture,” said Jason Bunting, Livingston County Farm Bureau president.

The Illinois Ag in the Classroom fundraiser will be held the same week where people from across the state visit the Pontiac Elks and Wolf Creek golf courses in Livingston County. Also, the Breakfast on the Farm will be held at Kilgus Farmstead near Fairbury on June 16.

“We’ll get you fed on that Saturday morning and you can learn a little more about the dairy industry. They do a fantastic job of putting on tours,” Bunting noted.

The Livingston County Farm Bureau just held its annual adopted classroom visit to the Blunier and Kilgus farms where students from Chicago were able to experience the farm.
