Fundraisers to benefit county fair

BLOOMINGTON – You’ll have a couple of chances to support local youth and the McLean County Fair this summer.

The ninth annual McLean County Farm Bureau Foundation golf outing is planned for June 18 at The Den at Fox Creek golf course in Bloomington.

“It has always had a great turnout,” said Marie Denzer-Farley, a McLean County Farm Bureau board member. “It usually kind of depends on what the weather will do just because it is typically the third Monday in June and a lot of times, our farmers are still out in the field.”

The golf outing raises awareness and funds for various youth programs. Recent funding cuts to the University of Illinois Extension have left a mark on programs around the state, according to the Farm Bureau.

The first-ever McLean County Farm Bureau Foundation “Hog Wild 5K” run and walk is planned for the Sunday before the McLean County Fair – July 29 starting at 8 a.m. This is a new Farm Bureau fundraiser.

“It goes around the fairgrounds and hopefully, we can create a lot of excitement for this,” Denzer-Farley said.

To become a race sponsor, pick up a form from the McLean County Farm Bureau and return it to the office by July 1. Checks should be made out to: McLean County Farm Bureau Foundation, 2242 Westgate Drive, Bloomington, IL 61705. The Farm Bureau is a 501 (C) (3) charitable organization.

Sponsorship levels include: gold ($500), silver ($250), bronze ($100) and a race friend (up to $100). Anyone with questions should contact Randy Miller at 309-830-6389 or e-mail: MCFair5K@gmail.com.
