The man with the toys

HANNA CITY – Peoria County farmer Dave Copple started collecting farm toys several years ago and hasn’t stopped since.

“I have five curio cabinets full of International (toys),” Copple said.

Copple prefers vintage toys and enjoys the hobby of collecting. Copple didn’t mind talking about tractor history with customers at his toy booth during the recent Greater Peoria Farm Show.

“Sales have been soft this year because we’ve got low corn and bean prices.”

Toy collectors typically include retirees and younger folks who simply want to add to their collection. Copple has observed prices twice as high for new, in-box toys.
