Field Update: McLean County

CHENOA – Thanks to a week of dry weather, the folks at Erdman Dairy near Chenoa had a productive stretch of work which included finishing up soybean planting and chopping rye.

“I think we’ll be in pretty good shape,” Jeff Meyer said Thursday morning.

Meyer says the fields in his area look better than he thought they would after all of the extreme weather.

“With all of that rain we had, we really didn’t have a lot of water standing – at least in our fields. All of the corn, for the most part, came up so we’re pretty happy with that.”

When the Erdman Dairy workers aren’t in the field, they have plenty of other work which must be done on a daily basis since they milk over 600 cows and feed out about 20,000 pigs a year.
