NASS releases monthly crop report

Field work is being done in preparation for planting, according to the monthly crop report for March released by USDA-NASS earlier this week.

Statewide, the average temperature for the month was 40.9 degrees, 1.0 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 2.15 inches for the month, 0.31 inches below normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 3 percent very short, 32 percent short, 61 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 4 percent very short, 32 percent short, 62 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus.

Winter wheat condition was rated 4 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 56 percent good, and 11 percent excellent.
