Pig barn open house set

LAHARPE – Two new 2,500 head wean-to-finish pig barns will be on display in western Illinois Feb. 10.

The Illinois Livestock Development Group and Illinois Pork Producers Association are coordinating the open house for Justin and Whitney McKeown. The farm is located at 2935 E. County Road 2150, LaHarpe. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m.

Sponsors for the event include ChoreTime, EIP Manufacturing, EPS Buildings, First State Bank of Illinois, the Pork Checkoff and Professional Swine Management.

“A common goal of IPPA and ILDG is to positively promote livestock in Illinois,” says a news release issued by IPPA. “Having open houses is just one way to do that by inviting friends, family and community members into a barn and allowing them to explore the barn.”
