Traditions linger in Fairbury
It’s only fitting that this year’s Fairbury Fair has an agricultural theme.
For years, area farmer Jim Ifft has cooked pork burgers for exhibitors and attendees at the swine show and this year was no different. Ifft Yorkshires provides the pork and others bring a dish to share for a potluck lunch.
“We have a grain and livestock operation,” Ifft explained. “Our sideline business is raising showpigs. We sell pigs to kids that show 4-H and FFA in state and national shows.”
Ifft considers the Fairbury Fair the last big event of the summer with school starting and the State Fair winding down.
“It seems like a lot of the good pigs really show up here. It’s a very high-quality show.”
