BLOOMINGTON – As we get ready to flip the calendar to another month, organizers are busy preparing for the McLean County Fair in Bloomington which takes place Aug. 3-7.

Something new this year includes concerts on Sunday evening featuring local bands. Also, the demolition derby returns on the Saturday of the fair with two nights of tractor pulls.

“Of course, the 4-H shows are happening throughout the week so folks can come out and see the creativity of the kids and watch the livestock shows as well,” explained Anna Ziegler, assistant manager for the McLean County Farm Bureau.

The McLean County Farm Bureau will hold a cash bash prior to the fair with tickets sold for $100 each. Attendees have the chance to win a grand prize of $1500 and other prizes are given away as well.

“All of the proceeds benefit our ag education efforts which includes our Food and Fun Farm Zone during the fair as well as our Ag in the Classroom activities throughout the school year,” Ziegler said.

Meanwhile, members of the fair court have been announced and include Katrina Lilienthal, Caroline Creager, Breanne Penn, Sydney Monroe, Emma Rients, Sarah Widener, Jordan Witte and Eli Tobin.

The king and queen will be crowned during an Aug. 3 contest starting at 7 p.m. in the McLean County Fair’s Cloverleaf Auditorium.
