By: Kent Casson
Ag’s sustainability event of the year is coming this December to Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Sustainable Agriculture Summit is scheduled for Dec. 6-7 bringing together farmers, processors, suppliers, brands, conservation organizations and the public sector. This is considered the premier sustainability event for agriculture, with the collective food and ag value chain learning, developing and advancing a vision for a resilient U.S. food system.
Leaders are united from all across the ag chain to explore how leveraging the interconnectedness embedded within U.S. ag can help scale collective action and achieve sustainable outcomes faster, more efficiently and more economically.
In 2022, there were over 700 key stakeholder attendees, 387 corporations, nonprofits, associations, farms and universities represented, 48 states represented and over 125 main stage and breakout session speakers. Those attending can help strengthen the U.S. food and agriculture capacity to drive change and build a more sustainable future.
Promotional partners include the Agriculture Future of America and MANRRS. AFA encourages engagement and innovation in food through premier leader and career development experiences. AFA has provided over 24,000 leader development experiences to college leaders and young professionals from more than 200 colleges throughout 43 states since it formed in 1996. MANRRS promotes academic and professional advancement by empowering minorities in agriculture and natural resources.
The Dec. 6 Sustainable Agriculture Summit agenda includes breakfast, a welcome, opening keynote and presentation on The Science of Sustainability: The impact of research on a sustainable agricultural system. Various breakout sessions are also planned throughout the day.
Dec. 7 highlights include Financial Innovations to Advance Sustainability in U.S. Agriculture moderated by Maggie Monast. Breakout sessions are also planned for this day along with lunch, a closing keynote and closing remarks.
