View from the Cab: Ag tech & more

By: Kent Casson

If my e-mail inbox is any indication, this year’s Farm Progress Show at Decatur will be full of ag technology and new unveilings – as is usually the case.

RYSE Aero Technologies will demonstrate their ultralight eVTOL vehicle, the “RECON.” This pre-revenue electric vertical takeoff and landing unit was built for people with purpose and could reshape how the ag community interacts with the sky. Daily flight demonstrations are planned from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at booth #1 in the Autonomy Zone & Ride ‘n Drive area.

With a historic debut at CES 2023, RYSE was the first eVTOL aircraft to take flight at the show, which was featured by BBC News.

New Holland will launch new equipment and product upgrades for 2024 and share a look at how the company is working to innovate and sustain the next generation of ag, from electric tractors to precision technology updates and external partnerships. Model Year 2024 updates are planned for the T9 Series and CR combines with new aftermarket solution upgrades to core connectivity capabilities. New Holland will be at booth #967 in the show’s Northwest Quadrant.

Massey Ferguson will show off the 500R Series Sprayer, which is a new offering for the North American market. The sprayer provides user-friendly operation that offers growers more control over their bottom line. This new machine comes standard with state-of-the-art LiquidLogic technology and a number of comfort features that open up opportunities for farmers to confidently take on spraying applications.

The next evolution of round balers will be featured as the Hesston by Massey Ferguson Round Baler is specifically designed for challenging North American hay applications, delivering efficiency, quality and rugged dependability. Built in Hesston, Kansas, the 1 Series is good for dry hay, stover and residue applications. Plus, the company’s small square baler delivers brick-like bales with increased capacity to help hay producers maximize productivity.

You also won’t want to miss the Gleaner 100th anniversary celebration with a specially-wrapped centennial combine on display. These eye-catching exhibits are always impressive at the Farm Progress Show.

Hopefully these insights into the show can help you map out your trip when you head down to Decatur later this month for FPS 2023.
