PTI set for summer farm tours
PONTIAC – Farmers from all over the country will be attending the upcoming summer field days at the Precision Planting PTI Research Farm near Pontiac.
Precision Planting Premier dealers invite customers to the farm for a VIP field experience.
“When customers come here, they’re going to be split into three different sessions,” explains Jason Webster, PTI farm director. “I’m excited about these sessions because I think it will be very informational but fun at the same time.”
One session is on furrow creation where regional sales managers take growers out to the field for a hands-on demonstration. Planters will be used on the farm to create a furrow and a new planter toolbar will have Reveal – the company’s new residue management system.
Another session focuses on the “sand box” area where visitors can actually plant corn.
“We want farmers to know what technology is available but we want them to know how to use it,” said Webster.
Lastly, Webster will take the group on an agronomy tour, as the farm has more than 120 trials. Multiple years of plot data will be shown to farmers.
Field days at the farm will run from the last week of July through the week after Labor Day.
The PTI Research Farm has a brand-new home for conferences as a new building was finished last November. This is a much better atmosphere than a tent out in the middle of a field, according to Webster.
“If we have a rain event, we’ve got a nice new building to put everybody in and we’ll still have a great day.”
