Dale Durchholz of Grain Cycles speaks at a previous Livingston Co. Agronomy Day.

PONTIAC – Agronomy Day returns to Livingston County Jan. 31 at a new venue.

The Eagle Performing Arts Center in downtown Pontiac will be the site for the Livingston County Farm Bureau event. Space is limited so anyone planning to attend should contact the Farm Bureau office.

“Registration starts that morning at 7:45 with presenters beginning at 8:15,” explained Chris Bunting, Livingston County Farm Bureau manager.

The long list of presenters includes Chuck Collins, chief meteorologist for WEEK-TV in Peoria. He will give a weather outlook for the upcoming growing season. Dale Durchholz of Grain Cycles will provide a market discussion and Country Financial’s Doug Yoder will give an update on crop insurance products and the farm bill. A presenter from Evergreen FS will cover crop inputs and fertilizer supplies.

“It is a popular event and we are glad we can do it again this year,” said Bunting.

Formerly held at the University of Illinois Extension office in Pontiac for many years, Bunting is glad the Farm Bureau is able to keep the tradition going.

Anyone interested in attending should leave their name and contact information by calling 815-842-1103.

Livingston County Farm Bureau is also planning to host virtual Rules of the Road seminars next month, covering various trucking regulations. An evening program will be offered Feb. 22 with a morning program Feb. 24 in the Farm Bureau committee room.

Other LCFB happenings include local Young Leaders heading to the state conference and future committee meetings. Bunting said they are always looking for people to join a committee.
