Illinois crop report info


USDA issued various reports on Friday and here is how the numbers were broken down for the state of Illinois.

Illinois crop production 2019 summary:

Corn: Planted area, at 10.5 million acres, is down 5 percent from 2018. Corn for grain was harvested on 10.2 million acres, down 6 percent from the previous year. The corn yield is estimated at 181 bushels per acre, down 29 bushels from 2018. Production is estimated at 1.85 billion bushels, down 19 percent from last year.

Soybeans: Planted area, at 9.95 million acres, down 8 percent from 2018. Harvested area, at 9.86 million acres, is down 6 percent from the previous year. The soybean yield is estimated at 54 bushels per acre, down 9.5 bushels from 2018. Production is estimated at a 532 million bushels, down 20 percent from the previous year.

Winter wheat: Harvested area in 2019 is estimated at 550,000 acres, down 10,000 acres from the previous year. The winter wheat yield is estimated at 67 bushels per acre, up 1 bushel from 2018. Production is estimated at 36.9 million bushels, down less than 1 percent from the previous year.

Oats: Harvested area in 2019, at 10,000 acres, is down 15,000 acres from the previous year. The oat yield is estimated at 65 bushels per acre, down 18 bushels from 2018. Production is estimated at 650,000 thousand bushels, down 69 percent from the previous year.

All hay: Harvested area, at 420,000 acres, is down 11 percent from 2018. The all hay yield is estimated at 2.71 tons per acre, down 0.08 ton from the previous year. Production is estimated at 1.14 million tons, 13 percent below 2018.

Wheat seedings:

Winter wheat seeded area for harvest in 2020 is estimated at 490,000 acres, down 25 percent from 2019.

Illinois grain stocks:

Corn stocks in all positions on December 1, 2019 totaled 1.76 billion bushels, down 15 percent from December 1, 2018. On-farm stocks totaled 930 million bushels, while off-farm stocks totaled 834 million bushels. The September - November 2019 indicated disappearance is 530 million bushels.

Soybean stocks in all positions on December 1, 2019 totaled 586 million bushels, down 13 percent from December 1, 2018. On-farm stocks totaled 265 million bushels, while off-farm stocks totaled 321 million bushels. The September - November 2019 indicated disappearance is 134 million bushels. All wheat stocks in all positions on December 1, 2019 totaled 23.4 million bushels, down 33 percent from December 1, 2018. On-farm stocks totaled 2.10 million bushels, while off-farm stocks totaled 21.3 million bushels. The September - November 2019 indicated disappearance is 13.4 million bushels.
