Fair promises to be fun

PONTIAC - Attending the Livingston County Ag Fair can be a fascinating and educational experience for visitors.

The four-day event, which runs July 17-20 at 4-H Park near Pontiac, includes kids who know how to work hard and take pride in what they do. They are also willing to answer questions anyone may have about agriculture.

“You’ve got the kids out there showing their projects and you’d be amazed at what some of these kids know,” said Jesse Mackinson, a fair director.

This year’s fair promises to be fun with a live concert added to the lineup on Saturday night featuring Blackjack Billy in the grandstand area. The show replaces the demolition derby.

“We rented a full stage to put out in front of the grandstand area and we are pretty excited about it,” Mackinson said.

The World Championship Rodeo by Broken Horn Rodeo Company will still be Wednesday night with the Ag Olympics on Thursday and the return of the tractor pulls on Friday night by the Illini State Pullers.

“I thought (the tractor pull) was great last year,” noted Mackinson. “I know we started late due to weather but those that stuck around got a very good show.”

There are livestock events happening most every day and various projects are on display in the Humiston Building. More information can be found at www.livingstoncountyagfair.com and on Facebook.

All children 10 and under are admitted to the fair for free each day.
