The Pontiac FFA Auction marked its 20th anniversary Saturday evening as attendees filled the PTHS commons area for a meal and silent auction before heading into the auditorium for the live auction.
“This is our big community celebration throughout the year,” said Pontiac FFA advisor Jesse Faber.
Faber is proud of Pontiac’s success over the years. The chapter celebrated all of the students who have won state championships and all of those receiving FFA degrees.
Pontiac FFA originally has a charter that goes back to about the start of the organization as a whole. Pontiac’s program closed in 1988 and stayed shuttered 15 years before it came back.
“They came back in 2003 with a new offering of courses that ranged from ag business to horticulture to crop and animal science,” explained Faber.
Kinzie Kestner has been an FFA officer for a couple of years and has enjoyed her time serving.
“I live in the middle of town and have absolutely no agricultural background,” Kestner said.
Kestner heard about FFA through friends.
FFA promotes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agriculture education.
