View from the Cab: Thinking about FPS
By Kent Casson
Now that we are past the Fourth of July and summer continues to fly by, we think ahead to the Farm Progress Show in late August.
This is the year when the show is in Boone, Iowa as it alternates every other year with the Decatur location here in Illinois.
Find your favorite companies at this year’s show, where you will see the latest and greatest plus be introduced to new agribusinesses and ideas. Those attending can also chat with engineers, manufacturers and company leadership behind all of that equipment and inputs that interest you.
It will be a technology revolution at this year’s show as visitors explore electric tractors and machinery with expanded autonomous technology demonstrations planned. Two Varied Industries tents will be featured with startups and small businesses presenting innovative solutions and products.
The annual field demonstrations are always a big part of the Farm Progress Show – no matter which state it is held in. Farmers can compare cutting edge technology in action with tillage and harvesting operations happening on 350 acres of corn.
Golf carts have become a popular way to travel around the show but drivers must follow several rules to keep others and themselves safe. You can even register to win the use of a golf cart at the 2024 show.
New this year, there will be two water bottle filling stations on the show grounds, sponsored by ADM. The stations will be located on Lot # 1259, Lot 18S and Lot #625. Visitors can also enjoy complimentary wi-fi access courtesy of JD Link and John Deere. Network and login information can be found at the entrance gates upon arrival.
Download the 2024 Farm Progress Show App in the app store on your smart device for maps, exhibitors, updates and more.
Those purchasing Farm Progress Show tickets in advance can receive a special online discount and be entered for a chance to win a Traeger grill. Visit the Farm Progress Show website to plan your trip there.
We can’t forget about the annual Threshermen’s Reunion near Pontiac a bit closer to home during Labor Day weekend, but I’ll save that preview for another week.
I hope you all had a great Independence Day holiday to mark our nation’s birthday.
